A man found murdered in a Brisbane garage was the co-owner of an inner-city Italian restaurant.

A female acquaintance found the body of 26-year-old Peter Milos on Tuesday afternoon at his Morningside home.

So far, police have no suspects in the murder of Mr Milos, a well-known former co-owner of the upmarket Mariosarti restaurant in Toowong.

Detective Acting Inspector Tony Geary said Mr Milos, a trained chef, was last seen early on Sunday morning heading to an unknown location.

"He had left a female acquaintance's house and we don't know his movements after that," he told reporters on Wednesday.

"The female acquaintance that located him was one of the last persons to see him alive."

Mr Milos was found in a room within a garage under the Key Street house. He had lived between his parents' place and other addresses.

Police released the man's name hoping nearby residents and businesses will come forward with information, and hopefully CCTV footage.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out on Wednesday.
