Tactical police with armoured Bearcat raid empty Sydney apartment

Heavily-armed police surrounded an apartment in Sydney's southwest today only to find nobody home when they eventually searched the building, in a repeat of a similar incident earlier this month.

Tactical officers supported by a Bearcat armoured vehicle broke down the door just before 8am.

However, even with the assistance of a police dog, nobody was discovered inside.

A NSW Police spokeswoman said not a lot of details were being released about the operation.

She said police had a search warrant for the premises and the raid was part of an ongoing investigation.

On November 5, more than 40 police laid siege to a house in Whalan in Sydney's west following reports of shots fired nearby.

After reaching the premises around midnight, police remained in place for about three hours before tactical officers breached the house.

However, nobody was home.
