Police officer invades group Facebook chat to help get drunk man home

A man too drunk to remember his exact address got unexpected assistance from a tech-savvy police officer, who found a clever way to get him home.

The man, only known as Cameron, had been out with his friends in Cardiff, Wales, this week when he was refused entry into a nightclub for being too intoxicated, and on his way home he was stopped by a concerned police officer.

When Cameron couldn’t remember his address, the officer used his phone to send a concerned message to a group chat on his phone, but not before changing Cameron’s name in the chat to ‘Such a VIP he has a police escort’.

“Hello it’s the police on Cameron’s phone. he is very drunk and we are dropping him home. He does not know what number Woodville Road he lives on,” the officer wrote.

His friends quickly responded with Cameron’s address, before raising suspicion on whether the Good Samaritan was actually a police officer.

“And ‘the police’ didn’t capitalise the ‘h’ on he… spooky stuff,” one friend said.

The good humoured officer snapped a selfie and posted it into the group as proof, to which the suspicious friend responded: “f*** me dead, it’s legit!”

Since one member of the group posted the savvy exchange on Twitter, it has been liked more than 72,000 times.
