Police narrowly avoid injury after crash on Melbourne Freeway
Several police officers have "narrowly avoided" being injured after a car ploughed through a crime scene in Melbourne.
Officers were investigating a crash involving an allegedly stolen Holden Commodore sedan at 5am today on the Eastern Freeway.
Acting Superintendent Troy Papworth said the driver fled the scene and before a silver Mercedes sedan drove through the crash scene, colliding into a police vehicle, nearly hitting attending police officers.

"The vehicle travelled through the crime scene and narrowly missed police officers at the scene," he said.
The driver of the Mercedes did not stop and continued along the freeway.
Papworth said they do not believe the initial crash and the Mercedes incident are connected at this stage.

No police officers were injured in the incident.
Police said they are now looking for the silver Mercedes, which they said would have extensive damage to the driver's door.
