Alleged looters have struck in the wake of Cyclone Marcia's path of destruction across Queensland, with police claiming bottles of liquor were stolen from a store near Yeppoon.

Three underage boys were allegedly caught by patrolling officers at 2am with 11 bottles of liquor near the coastal community, which is where tropical Cyclone Marcia made landfall yesterday.

Police believe the bottles were stolen from a liquor outlet at nearby Cooee Bay which had been left "insecure" after the cyclone.

They have warned that penalties for looters will be "severe".

Extra officers have been moved to Yeppoon for security reasons, while extra patrols are also being conducted in Rockhampton.
