Police hunt thugs who used bat, knife in Sydney attack

Police are searching for a pair of thugs who brutally bashed two Sydney men early this morning in a wild road rage incident.

Witnesses said they heard sickening screams as the two men were allegedly bashed with a baseball bat on an Arncliffe road.

“It sounded like someone getting bashed with a cane or a stick,” a male neighbour who was awoken by the incident told 9NEWS.

Police believe the incident escalated after the victims accidently hit a curb and pulled over their car to inspect any damage.

The victims told police they were on their way to the airport around 4am when they pulled over. While they were on the pavement, a white sedan pulled up behind them and two men emerged, allegedly demanding cash before violently attacking the pair.

The attackers were also armed with a large knife.

“They had armed themselves with a baseball bat and a large knife, and they were willing to use those weapons in the attack,” a police spokesman said.

The baseball bat as well as cable ties and a trail of blood were found at the scene.

Accompanied by a cousin, one of the victims left hospital today, with extensive bandages around his head and right arm.

“I’m feeling good, thank you,” he told 9NEWS.

Police said the victims did not have a criminal history and had both insisted they did not know their attackers.

The attackers are described as being in their late 20s or early 30s.
