Police car flips onto its roof after crashing into tree north of Adelaide

A police officer has been hospitalised after his patrol car crashed into a tree and flipped onto its roof north of Adelaide last night.

A second male officer was driving when the car crashed about 11.30pm, at the intersection of Lysander Place and Adaleigh Avenue in Salisbury East.

The car rolled onto its roof, but both officers were able to climb out of it.

The injured officer was taken to the Lyell McEwin Hospital and was treated for minor head wounds and shock.

SA Police have advised the officers were on duty but were not involved in a pursuit at any time.

Police have launched an investigation into the crash.
