Police borrow family jet ski to catch Gold Coast crook
Police on the Gold Coast received a Christmas gift from a family who loaned them their jet ski to detain an erratic boatie.
Multiple calls were made just before 6am yesterday along the Nerang River about a male driver in a small boat, driving dangerously and behaving badly.
Queensland Police said officers spent more than an hour on the banks of the river trying to get the boat driver to pull up to the shore.

When he began driving dangerously through the canals of Broadbeach Waters, south of Surfers Paradise, police took up the offer from a nearby family to use their jet ski to chase down the boat.
After a short pursuit through the canals, the officer on the jet ski was able to guide the driver to shore where he was met by more officers.
The family - Max, Matthew and Ben Town, with their cousin Hugo - said the man was driving the boat erratically.
"Well, I just thought it was crazy. I just looked out, saw this guy driving his tinny with Christmas lights on, Christmas rashie, yeah, just scratching into jetties," Matthew said.
"It was crazy."
Police arrested a 46-year-old Broadbeach Waters man, who allegedly had drugs in the boat when he was caught.
The alleged drugs have been taken by police for analysis.
He will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today.
