Family of missing SA woman Jody Meyers ‘devastated’ after police reveal she was likely murdered

The family of South Australian woman Jody Meyers say they are devastated after police declared they believe the missing mother has been murdered.

Ms Meyers, 20, has not been seen since leaving a family barbecue in Ettrick on August 26 with her partner Neil Archer.

Mr Archer, 29, was yesterday named by police as a person of interest in the Mannum’s woman disappearance.

Detectives say they believe she met with “foul play” and have declared Ms Meyer’s disappearance a major crime.

Officers have spent the past two days searching the Murray River and local roads for any evidence.

“Devastating, it’s not something you want to hear,” Ms Meyer’s brother-in-law Michael Bates told 9NEWS.  

“It’s pretty emotional.

“It was hard to hear, especially from police.

“We’ve got our suspicions, but to hear it from police its very upsetting and devastating.”

The missing mum reportedly threw her gold engagement ring from a car on the night she disappeared, while her white and gold Samsung Galaxy phone is also missing.

Ms Meyers’ bank card was also accessed at a Mannum ATM by someone other than her the day after she vanished.

Her brother Shaun says despite the development, the family is determined to cling to hope she is alive.

“Just hoping, holding on to hope as hard as I can,” Mr Meyers said.

“Even with what they’ve declared, [I’m] still hoping.”
