Police 'baffled' by string of Sydney shootings

NSW police say they are "baffled" following a string of apparently unrelated shootings across Sydney.

Shots were fired into a house in Greenacre, in Sydney's southwest, overnight, following shootings at Bankstown and northwest Ryde hours earlier.

The Greenacre shooting at 3.15am on Tuesday followed the 12.50am shots in Bankstown.

Bankstown Local Area Command's Chief Inspector Glen Fitzgerald said police had still not established a motive or any possible links to organised crime.

"Quite frankly at the moment it's got us a little bit baffled," he said.

The Ryde location was the same place where a Hells Angel associate was charged for fire bombing a car earlier this year.

Two men were seen running from the house late in what police believe was a targeted attack.

Three men, all related, were inside the home when five shots were fired. One bullet entered the lounge room, according to police.

A bikie feud was behind the February fire bombing, used to intimidate a witness at a trial linked to several 2012 shootings between then-warring Nomad and Hells Angels gangs, police said at the time.

A 20-year-old Hells Angel associate was charged with the fire bombing, which destroyed the car and damaged parts of the Ryde home.
