Teenager arrested over alleged carjacking

Police have ended an alleged 34-hour wild and reckless rampage with the arrest of a Brisbane teenager.

It’s alleged two young men embarked on a joy ride on Thursday night that would span thousands of kilometres and involve three stolen cars and a number of assaults.

At around 5pm yesterday, police found a Mazda 6, allegedly stolen from Dundowran Beach in Hervey Bay on Thursday, abandoned on Boscombe Street in Brookfield.

Later that night police spotted Quinton Coyne travelling in a vehicle along Manly Road in Wynnum. Mr Coyne, who had taken a ride in an Uber, was arrested and taken into custody.

The driver of the Uber was not involved.

The 18-year-old Carina man is in custody and is due to appear in court on Monday.

His alleged accomplice, Cooper Hay, remains on the run.
