Unconscious man pulled from water at Manly Beach

Police have appealed for public help to identify a man who was pulled from the water at Manly Beach and taken to hospital yesterday afternoon.

The swimmer, thought to be in his 70s, was pulled from the surf about 3.30pm (AEDT), the NSW Police Force said in a statement.

He was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition.

He is described as Caucasian and about 180cm tall with a slim build and short grey hair. He was wearing dark-coloured Speedos, police said.

Police have not yet released an image or any further details about the man.
