PNG leader condemns protesters

Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Peter O'Neill has condemned "agitators" over the violence on the University of PNG campus.

At least four students are understood to have been killed and at least 15 wounded when police fired on an anti-government protest.

"The facts relayed to me are that a small group of students were violent, threw rocks at police and provoked a response that came in the form of tear gas and warning shots," Mr O'Neill said in a statement, in which he promised an inquiry.
