PM Turnbull will ‘press’ for plebiscite bill

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has said he will persist against the opposition to pass the same-sex marriage plebiscite bill.

Mr Turnbull this morning conceded an increasing number of senators have retracted support for the controversial legislation.  

"At this stage more senators are saying they will vote against it, but we will continue to press the Labor party," he told reporters in Hobart.

The prime minister is currently visiting Tasmania’s capital to raise awareness for better health outcomes for cancer patients across the nation.
