It seems everyone is trying to help the cold-stricken Malcolm Turnbull get well soon.

The prime minister has come down with the flu in the final stretch of the marathon election campaign, appearing bleary eyed and battling a hoarse throat during his daily press conferences.

But Mr Turnbull appeared noticeably in better shape on Wednesday when he took his campaign to sunny Cairns.

Local Liberal-National Warren Entsch was taking credit for the prime minister's improved state.

The Leichhardt MP had earlier given Mr Turnbull a hot drink using lemons from his tree and honey from the family beehive.

"I presented it to the prime minister this morning and have a look at how effective it is," he told a gathering at the Cairns Space innovation centre.

"I'm transformed," Mr Turnbull laughed.

It comes a day after the prime minister was offered "bush medicine" from indigenous locals from Mandorah in the Northern Territory.

Mr Turnbull took some eucalyptus leaves from Raelene Singh who crushed them for him to rub under his nose.

It was exactly what he needed, local coalition MP Natasha Griggs told Mr Turnbull.
