PM quietly confident on workplace bills

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull is quietly confident industrial relations changes that triggered the double dissolution election will be passed in the Senate.

The federal government wants to reinstate the Howard-government Australian Building and Construction Commission and bring in tougher governance rules on trade unions and their officials.

"I think it will pass the Senate. I'm quietly confident that will happen but it remains to be seen," he told the Financial Review.
