PM leads Shorten on Facebook likes
The prime minister leads Bill Shorten on Facebook likes but his social media presence is still dwarfed by his predecessor.
Malcolm Turnbull's page has more than 285,000 likes, well over double the opposition leader's Facebook admirers, according to Facebook statistics.
But both Mr Turnbull and Mr Shorten trail their predecessors on page likes.
Tony Abbott boasts over 460,000 likes on the platform but also claims a pretty popular protest page, with "Tony Abbott - Worst PM in Australian History" receiving more than 200,000 likes.
The statistics also show interest in the current leaders has grown since the leadership spill in September 2015.
Personal posts from Mr Turnbull were also proving more popular on Facebook then his policy related posts, with his meeting with Chris Hemsworth and happy Australia Day post ranking the highest.
The opposition leader's posts about penalty rates ranked as the three most popular for Mr Shorten.
Twitter is still talking politics with the AFP raids on Labor offices prompting tweets relating to the election to climb to 120 per minute, the third highest rate since the campaign started.
Earlier statistics also showed Peter Dutton was the most tweeted political term posted in connection with both Mr Turnbull and Mr Shorten.
