A rare pink diamond found in Africa may be the largest of its kind uncovered in the last 300 years, according to a Western Australian mining company.

The stone, dubbed the "Lulo Rose", was found in Angola's Lulo Mine earlier this month.

It was recovered by ASX-listed diamond miner and explorer Lucapa Diamond Company.

"We are once again made very proud by yet another historic recovery."
