Pia Miller's 'two loves' converge for Melbourne Fashion Week
Pia Miller has been chosen as the face of this year’s Melbourne Fashion Week in a “dream gig” for the popular actor and model.
Miller first walked the runway at the event 10 years ago, before her star rose playing police officer Katarina Chapman on Australian soapie, Home and Away.
“It’s great to be back… two of my great loves are coming together: Melbourne and fashion,” she said at a press conference this morning.
“I’m really excited to just see our city shine.”
Miller, who was raised in Melbourne, described the city’s signature style as “chic” and – naturally – cemented in black.
“I don’t want to get into the Melbourne vs. Sydney thing, but I think we’re the leaders in fashion.”
More than 100,000 people are expected to attend the festival, with shows and experiences held in a variety of locations across the city, including Town Hall.
“It cements Melbourne as a retail and fashion destination,” Acting Lord Mayor Adam Wood said, adding that last year’s event poured $7.5 million into the local economy.
