After news broke that Australian actor Peter Phelps lost $400,000 in the collapse of Brisbane-based investment firm Wickham Securities, more victims of the Brad Sherwin-chaired company have come forward.

On Wednesday, Mr Phelps lamented the loss of his self-managed superannuation funds on Facebook.

"Superannuation stolen by bankrupt 'financial adviser' Brad Sherwin," he wrote.

"Kids' future. Farm. Gone."

Financial analyst Paul Clitheroe sympathises with the toll this loss of financial security has had on Mr Phelps.

"I am sure that when this happened, Peter would have felt it like a knife through the heart," Mr Clitheroe said.

"It's ruined his future, it's devastating," he said.

Like Mr Phelps, Nigel Jeffers lost $380,000 in the Wickham Securities collapse.

He now has $195 left in his self-managed superannuation fund.

"You literally wake up one morning and all your money has gone," he said.

Reflective about the industry in which he works, Paul Clitheroe had a blunt message for everybody with a self-managed superannuation fund.

"In every part of nature there are predators and in the world of money there are really nasty predators, and they'll eat you alive - even if you're a celebrity," he said.

But what hope do burnt investors like Peter Phelps and Nigel Jeffers have of recovering their money?

Last year, Shine Lawyers launched a class action suit on behalf of the duped investors.

"Hundreds of self-funded retirees have lost anything from $50,000 to a million dollars," Jan Saddler of Shine Lawyers said.

"We've identified one particular avenue that may be available to the investors," she said.

"That is to look at a possible action against Sandhurst trustees, who was the corporate trustee appointed by Wickham."

However, the law firm have admitted that burnt investors may only receive as little as six cents on every dollar lost.
