Mike Burgess announced as new ASIO boss

The head of the Australian Signals Directorate Mike Burgess has been appointed as the new director-general of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation.

Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton made the announcement in Brisbane on Thursday, putting Mr Burgess in charge of the nation's spy agency.

"Mike Burgess is one of the most respected people in the intelligence community," he told reporters.
