"We're really excited to welcoming both business, tourists and students to Western Australia when this service starts in June this year," Tourism Minister Roger Cook said.

AirAsia said opening the route was about opening Aussie eyes to all Indonesia had to offer.

"We are promoting tourism destinations beyond Bali," AirAsia Indonesia CEO Yeranita Yosephine said.

"Bali's fantastic, there's a lot of tourism demand going to Bali but Indonesia is more than just Bali."
