Perth has had just two millimetres of rainfall this summer while sweltering through temperatures in the top ten highest ever recorded.

Figures from Sky News meteorologist Tom Saunders show that Perth's summer was one of the driest on record.

That was coupled with maximum temperatures which averaged 31.9C during summer, 2.5C above normal for the fifth highest on record.

The average summer temperature of 25C was nearly two degrees above normal and Perth's seventh hottest summer in over 100 years of records.

"The hot summer continues the warming trend associated with climate change," Mr Saunders said.
