Police officer dragged by car during attempted arrest in Perth
A police officer has been dragged several metres by a car after trying to break up a domestic dispute in Perth’s inner-west.
Witnesses told 9NEWS police started chasing a man and a woman down Hay Street in Subiaco just after lunchtime.
“I see this guy who was literally just laying into this lady just punching her, I think she was driving or something like that,” Nathanael Foo said.
The 27-year-old officer became caught in the car door as he tried to arrest the man, with the driver punching the policeman in the head as he drove down the road.
“This car comes screaming down the road and it’s got its doors open and swinging while it’s driving,” witness Maddy Doyle told 9NEWS.
The police officer was pepper sprayed in the eyes in the melee.
“I saw the cop…so basically had he arm in the door obviously try to get the driver and then yeah he got dragged down the street,” Cameron Macalister said.
A man and a woman have been arrested and one of the injured officers was taken to hospital.
