Family loses everything in Perth house fire

A family has been left homeless after fire destroyed their uninsured southern suburbs home.

The elderly couple and their two adult sons escaped with just the clothes they wore to bed when the blaze broke out at their Success home just before 6am.

Their son, Alexander Vasiliades, woke to find his room in flames.

"I got up and got my parents, my brother and helped them out of the house. It was very intense and that was it. We were out of there." Alexander said.

The house has been gutted, with the damaged bill estimated around $300,000.

The family has lived in the home for 25 years, but it was not insured.

Their neighbour Stacey Thompson is now trying to set up a fundraiser to help raise money for emergency accommodation.

"I went and got them some warm clothes and warm blankets. They have lost everything," she said.

Local resident Jason said: "They're very good people, very good neighbours."

The family also can't find their cat, Swifty and hope he hasn't been killed in the fire.

Firefighters believe the blaze was an accident and may be the result of an electrical fault.
