Perth mum accused of poisoning baby with bleach back in court

A Perth mother accused of trying to kill her baby son by pouring bleach down his feeding tube will stay in a psychiatric facility until at least next week, with a court told she needs further treatment.

Visibly distressed, Brooke Lucas spoke only to confirm she could hear the magistrate, as she appeared via video link from the Frankland Centre.

The 26-year-old has been charged with attempted murder.

It's alleged she tried to poison her 13-month-old son William, days after he returned home from hospital, which Brooke Lucas described on Facebook as 'a Christmas miracle.'

The baby boy requires round the clock care for a condition called Pierre Robin Sequence, and eats and breathes through a tube.
