A WA man has made fun of his own home robbery, posting a video of the thieves dashing around his house to the Benny Hill theme song.

Perth resident Chris, who asked that his surname be withheld, returned home from work on Monday night to find his bedroom ransacked and his car missing from his driveway.

Most people would be devastated, but after finding CCTV of the two robbers in action, Chris saw an opportunity for comedy gold.

The 46-year-old got to work editing the footage, speeding up the robbers and adding the Benny Hill song.

"It made me smile and I was really just hoping that it would make others smile too," Chris told ninemsn.

The police were also smiling when Chris handed them a copy of the CCTV footage the next morning, clearly showing the thieves faces.

"The cops took one look at it and said, 'yep I know who they are'," he said.

On Tuesday, police arrested one of the alleged robbers, a 23-year-old male, and are hopeful of tracking down his accomplice.

The culprit was charged with breach of bail, motor theft, aggravated burglary and for driving without a license.

Officers also managed to track down Chris's Mitsubishi Lancer at the site of another robbery.

"Someone had stood on the bonnet and the back bumper has been dented, but it’s otherwise OK," he said.

"Luckily they hadn't done much damage to the house, my cats were there and they didn't touch them.

"They ransacked the bedroom looking for cash, then they found the keys in the kitchen and left."
