Perth man to be flown to Australia from America Samoa after falling ill on cruise ship
A Perth man is due to be flown by a medical plane to Australia after he was evacuated off a cruise ship to get urgent medical attention at a hospital in American Samoa.
Dave Crocos was celebrating a semi-retirement with a holiday onboard a Majestic Princess cruise in California via Hawaii, French Polynesia and Tahiti leaving on October 8.
However Crocos began feeling unwell and after nearly a week of being bedridden on the ship, it was decided he needed to go to hospital.

The ship was a day and a half away from land but crews rushed him to Pago Pago in American Samoa on October 25.
"He started sweating a lot, then it just got worse and worse where he couldn't actually get out of bed he was aching," his son Matt Bierburg told 9News.
"So they powered the boat up in full throttle, I believe, to get them to the island," Bierburg said.
Doctors do not know what is wrong with him.

"They believe its gall bladder related but they don't have the technology and the equipment to diagnose it properly."
Crocos is due to start his journey home tomorrow after many attempts at a medical evacuation.
His family are hopeful his travel insurance will cover the bill.
"He's one of those people that he wouldn't, wouldn't drive a car on the road without insurance," Bierburg said.
"He's always got himself covered for the worst case scenario."
