A 32-year-old Perth man who was assaulted while drunkenly hugging nightclub patrons has died from his injuiries.

Police said Zak Alan Harvey was outside the Capitol nightclub on Murray Street at about 5am (WST) on Sunday in a highly intoxicated state when he began hugging people.
