'He's just gone to town': Dad attacked for driving 5km/h under speed limit

A Perth father has been left with a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain after he was attacked for driving too slowly following the school drop off.

Rodney was driving along West Swan Road in Caversham at around 9am yesterday after he dropped his daughter off at school.

He claims he was driving 65km/h in a 70 zone when he was cut off and had a carton of milk thrown at him.

“Silly me I did pull over, and was like what’s going on,” the 43-year-old told 9NEWS.

“Straight away he got out and had a big silver tension wrench.

“He’s just gone around and started thumping me in the back of the head, so I’ve had five, six, seven blows of a metal bar, right at the back of my head.

“I’ve dropped to the ground and he’s just gone to town.”

Two men saw the attack unfold and rushed over to help the father.

“Absolutely no thought for their own safety but to help a complete stranger,” Rodney said.

The 43-year-old suffered two fractures in his skull, a bleed on a brain and cuts to his hand during the attack.

He was taken to Royal Perth Hospital and is waiting for brain scans to see if he needs surgery.

Police are questioning a 49-year-old and an 18-year-old man over the attack.
