Perth boy, 5, walks away after being hit by car in heart-stopping footage

A five-year-old boy has walked away after being hit by a car in Perth.

9News has obtained exclusive security camera vision showing the heart-stopping moment.

While some may find it confronting, incredibly the little boy is not seriously injured.

In the clip, the boy can be seen tumbling down the road, before jumping to his feet and sprinting off, despite just being hit by a car on Harold Street in Highgate.

Security cameras also captured the moments leading up to the collision, just before 6pm (local time), last night.

Wearing a bright yellow t-shirt, the child appears to stand alone at the side of the road.

Then, suddenly, darts into traffic and the path of a white hatchback.

While the force of impact sends him flying, incredibly he hasn't suffered any life threatening injuries.

Police and paramedics were called soon after and the boy was rushed to Perth's Children's hospital.

Witnesses say the area was packed full of cars, families and kids playing soccer.

It's understood the driver, who stopped the car immediately, was extremely upset and apologetic.

A witnesses told 9News the man behind the wheel was driving slowly and wouldn't have been able to avoid hitting the boy.

Police are investigating but no charges have been laid.

Tonight the five-year-old is in a stable condition in hospital.
