Grandson arrested over alleged murder of 'beautiful, hard-working' grandmother

Police have arrested the 19-year-old grandson of Pauline Farrugia, who was found stabbed to death inside her South Penrith home yesterday morning.

The teenager was picked up in Horsham, in country Victoria, and is being transported to Melbourne where he's expected to be charged with murder.

Pauline, 67, is being remembered as a beautiful hard working woman who loved her family and loved bingo.

The mother of five and grandmother to many was found dead inside her Chesterfield Road just before 11am.

Phyllis Micalles, a close friend and fellow bingo player, said they were in shock.

"It's very horrible. I couldn't sleep last night. I think about her all the time because she a very very good lady."

Today Pauline's friends at Penrith RSL held a minute silence in her honour.

Friends raised the alarm on Monday after she failed to turn up to bingo and didn't return calls. Her body was discovered inside her home two days later.

Her car was found dumped at a car park in Penrith three kilometres away. Police later seized her grandson's car from a home at Werrington County a suburb away.

He will front an extradition hearing at Melbourne Magistrates court tomorrow before being extradited back to NSW.
