Penrith beach to remain closed today after tragic drowning
Western Sydney's new inland beach will remain closed today after a man drowned in the water on Boxing Day.
9News understands the St Mary's man was paddleboarding when he got into trouble outside of the patrol zone about 2.35pm yesterday in Penrith.
Police used PolAir from the sky and police divers in the water to try to locate the 35-year-old but instead, made the grim discovery around 6.15pm.

The state government confirmed the beach will be closed today.
Surf lifesavers are urging swimmers to take extra care in the water this summer.
