‘He’s all I have’: Woman pleads with hit-run driver to come forward as husband fights for life

The wife of a man critically injured in a hit-and-run in Melbourne has pleaded with the driver responsible to come forward.

Jimmy Kalia, 37, was found injured on Anderson Road in Albion, in the city’s west, around 11.10pm on Saturday.

It’s understood the father-of-two was hit by either a Toyota Camry or Aurion driving northbound.

A witness told police he saw the male driver of the car look back to an injured Mr Kalia lying on the road, before fleeing the scene.

CCTV footage of the silver-coloured sedan travelling near a childcare centre on Anderson Road was released by police today.

Sergeant Mark Amos urged the driver, believed to be a male aged in his mid-50s, to come forward.

“We want to talk to the man. This isn’t a witch hunt, it’s about finding out the facts,” Serg. Amos said.

Mr Kalia’s wife, Bindu, said she was feeling “very alone” since the incident.

“I have two young children, and I can’t drive. My husband takes us everywhere,” Mrs Kalia said through an interpreter.

She said her sister was taking care of her children while she visits Mr Kalia in the Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

“At the moment I am struggling a lot…he is the only support I have.”
