Pauline Hanson cries talking about jail stint in new doco

Pauline Hanson has wept recounting her time in prison in a soon-to-air SBS documentary about her.

A promotional clip from Pauline Hanson: Please Explain! shows her talking about her first night in jail on suicide watch, and her concerns for her children.

"I just felt everything was stripped away from me and how the people perceived me, but I think what was more important is what my kids went through," she said.

"They didn't have their fathers. Here's their mum, you know, trying to fight, fight everyone in the whole bloody country, for their future."

Hanson then breaks down, wiping away tears before standing up and walking away from the camera.

The One Nation leader was jailed in 2003 for electoral fraud, spending 11 weeks behind bars before the three-year conviction was overturned on appeal.

In the documentary to air on July 31, Hanson also addresses her relationship with David Oldfield as well as the notorious video she filmed in case she was murdered.

The two-hour doco also includes interviews with Oldfield, John Howard and Alan Jones.
