Lead Wa Wa Nee singer Paul Gray dies

Paul Gray, the lead singer of famous Australian band Wa Wa Nee, has died after a battle with myeloma.

The singer, famous for a number of hits including Stimulation in the 1980s, passed away peacefully yesterday aged 54.

"It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that we announce that Paul Gray passed away," a statement on Wa Wa Nee Facebook page said.

"We would like to thank all the Doctors, hospital staff, relatives, friends and fans for the overwhelming support given to Paul and our family while he heroically battled Multiple Myeloma."

Wa Wa Nee's hit singles Stimulation and I Could Make You Love Me went number two and five respectively on the charts.

The band soon broke up after a follow up album didn't take-off.

Tributes have begun to flow for the late artist, with many devastated by the news of his early death.

Myeloma is a type of cancer that develops from plasma cells in the bone marrow.

The plasma cells become cancerous and multiply and can cause damage to the immune system, kidneys and red blood cell count.
