'It's our time': Patricia Arquette demands equal wages for women

Oscar winner Patricia Arquette has used her award acceptance speech for best supporting actress to demand equal wages for women.

Meryl Streep and Jennifer Lopez rose from their seats to cheer on the Boyhood actress as she ripped into wage and gender inequality in Hollywood.

"It's our time to have wage equality once and for all," Arquette roared.

"Yes, yes," Streep was seen saying from the audience as she raised a pointed finger high in the air in support of the comments.

Beside her a riled up Jennifer Lopez doubled over in her seat as she pumped her fist.

On the Oscar's red carpet, Arquette ignored questions by E!'s Ryan Seacrest about her manicure to speak about her charity work with an ecological sanitation project.

Earlier this year, the former Medium star revealed she paid her babysitter and dog walker more than she received over 12 years of filming Boyhood.

Arquette's performance in the Richard Linklater film has earned her a Golden Globe and now an Oscar.
