Teenager charged with murder after 16-year-old stabbed to death at Melbourne bus stop

A teenage boy has been charged with murder after 16-year-old Pasawm Lyhym was stabbed to death at a bus stop in Melbourne's north earlier this month.

The Hillside 17-year-old teen handed himself into Keilor Downs Police Station late last night and has since been charged with one count of murder, police have advised.

Lyhym, a Year 11 Staughton College student, was at a bus stop in Sunshine just before 3.45pm on May 18 when he was allegedly stabbed in the neck while other school students and commuters were around.

The Melton South teenager died on the street despite the work of paramedics, while a 16-year-old boy from Sunshine North was also found with minor injuries after the incident and had to be hospitalised.

The boy charged with murder will appear before a children's court today.

Two teenage boys, a 17-year-old from Caroline Springs and an 18-year-old from Burnside, have already been interviewed by police in relation to the incident.

Both were released without charge pending further enquiries.
