Parts of Western Australia drenched by early Easter storms

Parts of Western Australia are mopping up after a particularly wet start to Easter but can expect easing conditions today according to the Bureau of Meterology.

The Wheatbelt towns of Wongan Hills, Dalwallinu and Walebing were drenched after a severe storm hit Peth and parts of the state yesterday.

The Bureau of Meteorology advised at 9.26pm yesterday the bad weather warning for the area bounded by Dalwallinu to Mount Jackson to Southern Cross to Hyden to Narrogin to Gingin to Dalwallinu had been cancelled.

While rainfall is still expected throughout today the threat of flash flooding and heavy rain is gone.

The wet roads have seen a number of minor accidents throughout the state.

In one incident in Karrinyup yesterday afternoon, a Public Transport Authority security vehicle was badly damaged when it rear ended another car at an interaction according to Perth Now.

A four-year-old escaped injury after being hit by a Nissan Navara near Margaret River.

Police say the child was taken to Margaret River hospital with minor injuries.

These accidents came after a head-on collision between a car and a truck left a man dead south of Lancelin just after midday on Friday.

The national Easter road toll currently sits at three.
