Parliamentary petitions go online

Australians can hop onto a website to petition federal parliamentarians after the House of Representatives adopted an electronic system.

Speaker Tony Smith said the e-petitions system would make it easier for members of the public to petition the House on individual or public grievances.

Hundreds of petitions - which previously had to be delivered in paper form - are received by the House every year.
