Man hit with $257 parking fine before even driving new car

A man has been hit with a hefty parking fine - before he even had the chance to drive his new car.

Victor, 62, saved up for 14 years to purchase his new Kia Stinger.

However, when he took a selfie to commemorate the moment, he did not know what it would ultimately cost him.

"The salesman drove it out of the garage, parked it here, with a big red ribbon on the bonnet, and before I knew it, before I even drove the car, I got a parking ticket for it," Victor told A Current Affair.

Ryde Council in Sydney issued a statement saying fines were issued to two vehicles which were parked illegally.

"As a result of ongoing issues with cars obstructing pedestrian access at this location and in a residential area with nearby bus stops and a school, a number of infringements have recently been issued," the statement read.

Victor was fined $257.

"I mean, surely the council would go, was there a reason the car was parked there in the first place?" he said.

However, the Kia dealership has promised to cover the costs.
