Body washes up on beach near Melbourne

A major investigation was launched this morning after a body washed up on a beach south-east of Melbourne.

Authorities were called to Beach Road in Parkdale, 23km south-east of Melbourne, just after 10am after receiving reports a body was on the foreshore.

Detectives spent hours investigating but deemed the death to be not suspicious. 

The woman has not been identified.
