The parents of Australian war hero Corporal Cameron Baird met Prince Harry in London today, nine months after he was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross.

A veteran himself, Prince Harry has spent a great deal of time with working with returned servicemen and women.

“He knows what it’s like for those men and women and he can have true empathy for their situation and that comes through his dealing with them and also the charities that he helps promote,” Ben Roberts Smith, another Australian VC recipient said.

For a third day in a row Victoria and George Cross recipients have met with senior royals as part of a biennial reunion.

"He treated everyone equal and I think at the end of the day it was respect that he earned not only as an inspector but an instructor and I think that's what really shone through,” his father Cpl Baird’s father Doug said.
