Panic button credited with saving Sydney couple ambushed by thieves

A panic button has been credited with saving the lives of a Sydney couple after they were ambushed by thieves in their home.

Sharon White had just returned to her home in Annangrove in the city’s north-west when she was confronted by two attackers in her carport Friday night.

“They dragged me through the house, up the stairs, and my husband didn’t have his hearing aids in so he couldn’t hear me,” Ms White told 9NEWS.

Her husband John was in bed, when one of the attackers burst into the bedroom and dragged him downstairs.

Mr White managed to hit the home’s panic button, alerting emergency services to the attack.

He was then punched repeatedly by the attackers, who fled the scene with only a set of car keys.

They remain on the run.
