Panel examining 44 child abuse cases

A special child protection panel is examining more than 44 cases involving allegations of abuse inside immigration detention centres.
Of those, seven have been classified as non-sexual assault and another 20 have been closed.
Immigration department secretary Michael Pezzullo told a Senate committee on Monday that investigations for 12 cases were ongoing.
