Palmer sues Qld deputy premier

Clive Palmer has confirmed he is suing Queensland's deputy premier Jeff Seeney for defamation and seeking more than $1 million in damages.

The mining magnate and federal MP is already suing Premier Campbell Newman for defamation for claiming he tried to "buy" the Queensland government.

Mr Palmer told AAP earlier this week that he planned to sue Mr Seeney for alleging he sought special favours for his Waratah Coal interests in the Galilee basin.

But he confirmed via a statement on Friday afternoon that a writ against Mr Seeney had been lodged with the Supreme Court.

"These comments by Mr Seeney, which I had requested he retract and apologise for, can't be allowed to go unchallenged," he said.

Mr Palmer said any damages Mr Seeney was ordered to pay would go to charity.

He is now seeking $1.1 million in damages each from the state's two highest-ranking politicians.

Mr Seeney has said he isn't surprised he found his way into Mr Palmer's crosshairs.

"This is what we've come to expect from Mr Palmer," Mr Seeney told AAP earlier this week.

"Mr Palmer sues everyone."
