Palmer's repeal plan will hurt Qld: Newman

Premier Campbell Newman says federal MP Clive Palmer's pledge to repeal all the Newman government's legislation if Mr Palmer's party is elected in Queensland would hurt the state.

The billionaire MP vowed to run Palmer United Party (PUP) candidates at the Queensland election after it garnered 11 per cent of the state's primary vote in the September federal poll, despite forming just two months before the election.

Mr Newman said Mr Palmer's plan would reverse improvements the government had made to the cost of living pressures.

"If he wants to take away these things, he's essentially saying he wants to wreck our economy, increase business taxes, increase business regulations and put cost of living pressures back on people with higher taxes and charges," Mr Newman said.

"It's a pretty unconventional view."

Mr Palmer on Sunday announced the plan, saying a "simple bill" would be presented to parliament to repeal all Newman government legislation.

"So the message is, help is on the way, that we will get there, that we will obliterate from the record books, the history of the Newman government," he said.

PUP is represented in the Queensland parliament by state leader Alex Douglas and deputy Carl Judge.

The party is expected next week to announce a high-profile candidate for the Queensland seat of Kawana, held by Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie.

Mr Newman has said he would serve a full term and a state election would not take place until next year.
