Palmer flags electoral changes challenge

Clive Palmer's political party will launch a High Court challenge should changes to Senate voting become a reality.

The Palmer United Party leader thinks planned legislation allowing voters to mark preferences above the line on upper house ballot papers would prevent new parties from being elected.

"It will disenfranchise Australians and establish Eastern Bloc and communist-type tendencies, where choices are limited and the people of this country are dictated to by the government," Mr Palmer said in a statement on Tuesday, fearing the results would be rigged.
