Missing man's hat found a day after shoes were discovered

Police have found another piece of clothing in the search for a man who disappeared from a rural town in Queensland's South Burnett Region.

Police believe a dark-coloured hat, found near Macalister and McLucas streets in Murgon, belonged to 27-year-old Sunshine Coast man Jack McLennan.

Previously, officers found a white pair of shoes, also believed to belong to McLennan.

A pair of shoes have been found almost a week into the search for missing 27-year-old Jack McLeannan, who disappeared from a rural town north-west of the Sunshine Coast.

Police located the shoes today and believe they belong to Jack McLennan.  Queensland Police

McLennan was last seen on the evening of October 4 at Ficks Crossing recreational grounds between Wondai and Murgon.

He was reported leaving the area on foot.

Search and rescue efforts continued today for the seventh day.

Police are appealing to a person who was camped overnight in the Ficks Crossing area on the day of McLennan's disappearance to immediately come forward.

The person was travelling in a dark-coloured vehicle with a roof tent.

Search efforts are expected to continue over the weekend.

Police divers have combed in and around all bodies of water near the grounds while officers conducted ground and aerial searches.

The search has since expanded to include the wider Murgon area.

Signage has also been placed along the Bunya Highway, urging motorists to drive with care and report any potential sightings to police.

Police are encouraging landholders to check their properties, including outbuildings and sheds for any signs of McLennan.

McLennan is described as Caucasian, about 185cm tall with light brown hair, brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and dark shorts.

Anyone who may have information on his whereabouts or was in the vicinity of Ficks Crossing between 3pm on October 4 and midday on October 5 is urged to come forward.
