Moment out of control driver crashes into pregnant woman at Perth medical clinic

A pregnant woman has been hospitalised after an out of control driver hit her as it accelerated into a medical centre full of patients and staff in Perth.

An expectant mother was heading for her eight-week scan at Balcatta Radiological Clinic when she was hit by a Holden ute that launched out of the car park.

Footage shows the driver carefully edging into a parking spot before it's believed they hit the accelerator where they fly through a bollard and into the pregnant woman.

The vehicle then smashed into the medical centre, narrowly missing patients and staff inside the waiting room.

"I haven't actually heard a noise like that before it was huge," Sandy Meikle, a witness, said.

None of the patients or staff inside the waiting room were injured but the shock of the incident rattled bystanders.

"(There was) a lot of screaming and a lot of jumping," Meikle said.

The pregnant woman in her 20s was taken to Royal Perth Hospital.

Another woman was also treated for shock.

Workers at the medical centre said this isn't the first time a crash has happened.

"I've actually seen it happen before, someone drove through the building before, it's happened twice," a security guard told 9News.

Staff said it's why the bollard, which this out of control driver smashed through, was installed as a safety measure to prevent future incidents.

The elderly driver escaped the crash uninjured and was questioned by police at the scene.

No charges have been laid.
